4-H Members Needed

Turn N Burn 4-H Club will have it’s first meeting of the new year on Tuesday, September 6, 2011.  The meeting will be held at the Stuart Center on Hwy 17 South in Bartow at 7 pm.   Our Club is all about horses.  We do Trail Rides, Barrel Racing, Pole Bending and parades.  We will be doing 11 parades between now and March 2012.  If you ride and are between the ages of 8 and 18 come and join our club.  You can email me at pde0129@live.com if you need more info.

Trail Ride and Picnic

4-H members, Truth in Life Ministries Youth Group, United Horsemen in Christ and clients of Leaning W Training and Boarding Stable were invited to a Trail Ride and Picnic at The Hampton’s in North Lakeland.  Charles Murphy done an excellent job on the grill (burgers, chicken, wild hog, hot dogs).   Everyone pitched in and gave rides to all the Youth Group kids.  We all trail ride as often as we can, visit us on facebook or our website if you’d like to come out and join us.  God gave us a beautiful day of sunshine for playing frisbee, trail riding, throwing horseshoes, hiking and making new friends. 

Christmas Parades

Turn N Burn 4-H Club has rode their horses in a lot of parades this year.  Sebring, Ft. Meade, Bartow and Mulberry.  Our Club won “Best on Four Legs” in the Ft. Meade Parade. 

4-H Clubs Team Up for Children’s Home

Turn N Burn and Time Is of The Essense 4-H Clubs are having a Holiday Drive for the Baptist Children’s Home in Lakeland. Children range in age from 3 to 18. The 4-H Clubs will be doing Christmas Caroling on Horseback a few days before Christmas at the orphanage. Horses will be decorated with lights, bells, garland, santa hats and more. Kids will be able to spend time with the horses petting them and getting rides. Clubs will be doing a fundraiser at Tractor Supply in Lake Wales Nov. 22nd, 23rd and 26th and will also be doing a fundraiser Horse Show on Dec 18th at the Bartow Horse Arena to raise money to buy gifts, candy and stockings. If you would like to donate any toys, games, cameras, cd players, dvd movies, cash, gift cards or anything – please call and we will gladly come and pick it up. Your help is appreciated. Horse Show Saturday, November 13th

Come and watch the Turn N Burn 4-H members do their speed events at the show.  Show starts at 8 am at the Bartow Horse Arena on Hwy. 17 South.  Entry is free to come out and watch.  Concession stand will be open.  Barrel racing, pole bending, halter classes and more.

Trail Ride for Hope Equine Rescue

Turn N Burn members, Phyllis Elliott, Jessica Lajoie, Storm Elliott, Ben O’Hanlon and friend, Ian rode in the Trail Ride at Colt Creek State Park.  Proceeds from the ride went to Hope Equine Rescue.  There was over 100 riders who participated in the ride and we hope to see more next time.  Colt Creek State Park has really nice trails for riding.

Scrapbook Class

Turn N Burn 4-H members had a scrapbook class today to work on their Youth Fair Projects.  Diane Sharp who is a consultant for Creative Memories held the class for them and allowed them to use her equipment for cut-outs and letters for their scrapbooks.  Attending members were Andrew Fuentes, Cheyenne Sharp, Cody Sharp, Storm Elliott, Courtney Deal and Ben O’Hanlon.

Halloween Parade

Members of the Turn N Burn 4-H Club rode their horses in the Bartow Halloween Parade on Thursday, October 28th.  Storm Elliott carried the American Flag on her horse, Lexi.  Leader, Phyllis Elliott and Indy, Volunteers, Dotty Reese and Tandy and Jessica Lajoie and Matt rode along with the members, and our spookiest member, Andrew Fuentes on Frosty.  Pretty Pony Parties of Bartow also rode with the club.  It was a great parade and everyone had a great time.
